Home Remedies For Anal Fissure

An anal fissure is a cut or tear occurring in the anus (the opening through which stool passes out of the body) that extends upwards into the anal canal. Fissures are a common condition of the anus and anal canal and are responsible for 6% to 15% of the visits to a colon and rectal (colorectal) surgeon.

They affect men and women equally and both the young and the old. Fissures usually cause pain during bowel movements that often is severe. An anal fissure is the most common cause of rectal bleeding in infancy.

Anal fissures are a very common problem across the world. They cause considerable morbidity and adversely affect the quality of life.

Consult your doctor first, if you will use St. John's wort. If you have a serious condition, it is best to consult with a doctor for help. Some conditions might be warning signs of other illnesses that only a medical professional can accurately diagnose.

1- St. John's Wort Oil or Cream

-St. John's wort oil has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. So it's a good germ killer. Since ancient times it has been known to heal wounds quickly.

-Gently rub St. John's Wort oil on the affected area.

-Repeat several times a day until the Anal Fissure heals completely. (About two weeks)

-You can add 4-5 drops of tea tree oil to increase the effect of St. John's Wort oil.

2- Fresh Aloe Vera

You can use an aloe vera plant to make yourself rectal suppositories. Cut off a piece of the leaf, then cut away the green leaf and inside yellowish layer (it’s bitter and astringent), leaving only the clear inside meat of the plant.

Insert this fresh aloe vera  (cut to the desired length and width) into your rectum (your fingernail should be short to avoid irritation.) and leave it there until your next bowel movement, when it will come out naturally. You may need to wrap the cut aloe vera in cellophane and freeze it first to make it firmer and easier to insert.

If you insert this suppository before bed, then the aloe vera has all night (hopefully) to work its healing action. Re-apply after every bowel movement. Aloe Barbedensis is a good species of aloe vera with proven healing action.

Make sure you’ve washed your hands thoroughly before application and never stick the same, soiled finger back into your pot of salve.

3- Aloe Vera Cream

Aloe vera cream is an effective and safe form of treatment for acute anal fissure. It can also affect positively the healing of chronic anal fissure wound, pain and hemorrhaging upon defection.

You apply the aloe vera cream with the tip of the index finger to your wounds three times daily.

4- Poultice Nettle

Nettle is one of the most effective herbs for the cure of anal fissure.
Formic acid in the nettle is a good anti-inflammatory.

With this feature, a poultice nettle can treat infection by killing bacteria and drawing out the infection.

While fresh herbs are generally preferable for their abundance of nutrients, dried herbs also make effective and sometimes more easily available poultices. As long as you've got the right herbs, a good poultice can be made from fresh or dried herbs.

 Ingredients

-a bowl

-half a cup of water

-3 tablespoons of dried nettle

-cheesecloth or cotton bandage

Directions

-Place 3 tablespoons of dried nettle into a half cup of boiling water.

-Boil for approximately 5 minutes to start breaking the dried nettle down gently and form a more integrated mixture.

-Turn off the stove and transfer ingredients to a bowl to cool so that it’s warm to the touch.

-The all-natural fabric needs to be used to wrap the herbs for a poultice, and the most common is cheesecloth or cotton bandage. The fabric needs to be non-irritating and breathable so that the herbs can heal the affected area.

-Lay the cloth flat and add the mixture to the center of the cloth.

-Fold the cloth over twice to create a pack or gather it.

-Place on the affected area for 20 minutes. (It is important that the poultice nettle touches the wound.)

-Repeat 3-4 times a week until healed.
